Why Have a Small Business Credit Card?
There are credit card lenders that offer special credit cards to small businesses. A small business credit card will open you and your business up to possibilities that are not otherwise available. There are also certain aspects of a small business credit card that is different from other credit cards.
Among the things about a small business credit card that’s the same as any credit card is the fact that it does have an annual percentage rate-called a credit card APR, which is the interest you’re going to be paying on any balance that are hanging around on the card. You’ve probably heard that it is a good idea to pay your balance off every month and that’s because that reduces the interest you have to pay over a certain period of time.
Business credit cards allow revolving balances, therefore you are charged the APR that all credit cards have as a part of their business operations. Again, you do want to try to pay off that balance at the end of each billing cycle if you can. Doing so will help you not pay as much toward APR. You also want to use your business credit card to separate business purchases from personal purchases.
It is convenient to just go ahead and make any and all purchases with your small business credit card, but it is easier for you to keep track of what business expenses you are dealing with if you keep your small business credit card exclusive to business purchases. Some do choose to do personal purchases with their small business credit card because there are many rewards programs offered by small business credit cards, but just make sure that your personal money makes payments toward personal purchases and business money makes purchases toward business purchases.
The incentives are great, especially when you’re offered frequent flier miles or cash back, or possibly even low interest rate credit cards. Those are always great reasons to use your card, especially if you travel a lot and can use the airline miles. You can even use the incentives gained from your card as rewards for the hard work done by your employees. They deserve a little something now and then and would love to be able to take a trip at a discount or even have a free flight to go wherever they please. Just think how great that would be to have the power to give your employees a little something extra.
